The country is set to experience an intense heatwave this weekend, with stable atmospheric conditions and plenty of sunshine dominating the weather pattern. According to the latest meteorological forecast, maximum temperatures are expected to climb as high as 41 degrees Celsius.
The stable weather is a result of a high atmospheric pressure system positioned over Europe, combined with the strengthening of the African and Azores anticyclones. This has created ideal conditions for hot weather and full sunny days.
What to Expect This Weekend
For Saturday and Sunday, the forecast predicts clear skies and abundant sunshine across most of the territory. Only a few light clouds may appear over the mountainous areas. Winds will be light, blowing at a speed of up to 7 meters per second, while sea conditions will remain calm with waves of force 1 to 2.
In terms of temperatures, values will range from 22°C in the early morning to 41°C during the peak afternoon hours on Sunday, making it the hottest day of the week.
Start of Next Week Remains Hot
The same hot and clear weather pattern will continue at the beginning of next week. Meteorologists predict that temperatures will remain extremely high, with maximum values still reaching between 40 and 41 degrees Celsius. The weather will stay stable and sunny.
Major Weather Change Mid-Week
A significant shift in atmospheric conditions is expected from the middle of next week. The forecast shows an increase in cloud cover, followed by light rain showers across a large part of the country.
These showers will occasionally turn into short-term thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. Winds will become stronger, reaching speeds from 8 up to 18 meters per second.
This change will bring a noticeable drop in temperatures. Maximum values are expected to fall to 35-36 degrees Celsius, bringing some relief after the scorching heat.
How to Stay Safe During the Heatwave
During days with temperatures above 40°C, it is important to take precautions. Avoid direct sun exposure between 11:00 and 17:00, drink plenty of water, wear light-colored clothes, and limit physical activity outdoors.
Stay tuned for further updates as the mid-week weather system develops.
